Do You Pray For Storms?

16/365 days of blogging.

I am not a fan of winter at all.  My husband on the other hand absolutely LOVES winter.  He loves everything about it that I hate.  Cold air, snow, ice, dreary days of being stuck inside the house and not seeing the sun for days sometimes weeks.  I on the other hand think of winter as one long storm.  I long all winter to see the lazy days of summer where the days are longer and my kids can play outside till 9:00 pm like I used to when I was a kid.

I was thinking about the fact that I have been battling a cold for almost 2 weeks now and how I am so ready for this storm to be over.  It is so hard to trust in God when storms come our way.  It is kinda weird that we have a harder time praising Him at the times we need Him most.  We have no problem praising Him when things are good, but do we praise Him when things aren’t good?

Every problem that believers face in life, God allows for a specific purpose.  He uses every situation for something far greater than what appears to be happening at that exact moment in our life.  He uses them to make us into better Christ like followers.  Our faith is being strengthened to prepare us for battles in this world.  Philippians 4:6 tells us  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”  But is that still possible when the darkness of the storm surrounds us?

The strength to weather the storms that rise up in our lives is with us every day in Christ.  If we were able to see the spiritual battle the rages all around us every minute of every day we would be able to see the army of angels that surround and protect us with weapons far greater than those that are battling against us.  When will endure attacks from satan, we have hope of a victory because of the saving relationship we have with Jesus Christ.  Will we feel weary?  Absolutely!  Will we feel overwhelmed?  Absolutely!  Will we get discouraged? Absolutely!  But the Bible tells us that God is close to the broken-hearted and He feels our pain.  He does not abandon us in our time of need.  When we lift up our fears to Him in prayer, He hears us and sends the Holy Spirit to comfort us and He takes our struggles and makes it work into a perfect plan for our lives.  God knows our every weakness and has seen our struggles and our failures.  Yet “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  (2 Corinthians 12:9) We may get wounded along the way but we have to march on towards the goal.

The struggles that we face every day are always an opportunity for God to reveal His power to us.  Each time we are faced with a situation that seems there is no way out…drop to your knees and praise God for the trial that you are going through.  Use the trial to give glory to God.  Thank him for allowing you to go through situations that will only strengthen your faith…IF you trust in Him.  It irritates satan to the core when we give praises to the almighty Father.  Never let the enemy convince you to surrender.  We have all been made more than conquerors through our risen Lord and He will never let us fail.

Do you want to worry less and give praises  to God in ALL things?  Then drop to your knees and pray more!  Whenever you start to worry, just pray and ask God to take the worry away from you and allow you to praise him fully.  Welcome trials in your life.  You will be a stronger Christian for it!
