October Baby

52/365 days of blogging.

I went to see a premier of THIS movie last weekend.  It is simply called “October Baby.”  Here is a synopsis of the movie from the website.

As the curtain rises, Hannah hesitantly steps onto the stage for her theatrical debut in college. Yet before she can utter her first lines, Hannah—unscripted—collapses in front of the stunned audience.

After countless medical tests, all signs point to one underlying factor: Hannah’s difficult birth. This revelation is nothing compared to what she then learns from her parents: she was actually adopted … after a failed abortion attempt.

Bewildered, angered, and confused, Hannah turns for support to Jason, her oldest friend. Encouraged by his adventurous spirit, Hannah joins his group of friends on a Spring Break road trip, embarking on a journey to discover her hidden past … and find hope for her unknown future.

In the midst of her incredible journey, Hannah finds that life can be so much more than what you have planned.

I was very impressed with how they handled the content of this movie.  Even though I didn’t think they touched enough on the forgiveness from God that a woman can experience after committing this gross sin of what I consider to be nothing less than murder.  It was very well written and very well performed.

My husband was the spearhead of an action squad to get the movie Courageous to hour hometown of about 4500 people on its opening weekend.  Through his efforts, we were able to get the churches and people of our community to commit to 1000 tickets.

He has considered doing the same for October Baby, however the interest just isn’t the same.  Several churches in the community have already declined to get behind this movement.  It is sad that they are not willing to take this controversial subject head on and conquer it in our community.  I guess that is how we have allowed God to be removed from public schools, the Ten Commandments to be removed from courthouses, and so on…..

It is time people.  It is time for all christians to take a stand against the na sayers.  It is time to make our voices heard.  It is time to stand up for God once and for all.  Or are we too busy running businesses, making friends, and doing it OUR way, that we are just going to roll over and let them take our freedom of religion away too?

Where are all the courageous christians?
