Good Friday Thoughts

96/365 days of blogging.

Last night we had Good Friday services.  I can’t say much about it except WOW!  A table was set on the stage with 12 candles lit.  Eleven tapers and 1 large candle representing the Christ Candle.

A video was shown from Mars Hill Church titled Who Killed God.  The service was centered around just that question.  Who killed God?  We did.  Each and every person on this earth is responsible for His death.  When Jesus died on the cross, he died for every sin that had been committed in the PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE.  Each and everyday that we sin we crucify Him again.  The movie focused strictly on the combined Scriptures of the Gospels telling the story of Jesus’ last hours.  His trial before Pontius Pilot, and the sentencing that let him to Golgotha and His ultimate death where he defeated satan and claimed the keys to the gates of hell.   Candles were extinguished during key times of the movie to represent key moments of his crucifixion and death.

The movie ended with the stone being rolled in front of the tomb.  The sanctuary was then in complete darkness.  Lights were raised enough for people to see to walk out and the church was left in a state of mourning.

Tomorrow morning, we will arrive at church to celebrate the Risen Savior!  What a celebration indeed it will be.  I am so thankful to be in the ministry this time of year.  Holy week is my favorite time of year.  I have heard people say in the last week or so that they don’t understand us having a celebration on Good Friday.  Why celebrate the death of our Lord.  I say without his suffering and death on the cross, we would not have an Easter to celebrate.

Praise God for the Victory or our risen Savior!  Without that…we would all perish eternally in hell instead of having Heaven to look forward to for all of eternity.

Have a great day tomorrow.  I will post about our services tomorrow when we get home.  Can’t wait!
